Why your donation matters

In an emergency, every pair of hands makes a difference, and so does every penny. These are the moments that demand our best. And the faster and stronger our response, the more lives we can save in the aftermath, and the more support we can give as people recover.

From 2019 to 2024, home insurance rates spiked a whopping 48.4 percent, causing many homeowners to choose to go uninsured rather than pay the high monthly rates, according to LendingTree. To date, the Los Angeles wildfires have impacted around 29,00 acres. An estimated 154,108 homes within the county remain uninsured during the catastrophe.

Why do we ask for monthly donations?

A regular monthly donation helps us plan our work, because it helps us know how much income we’ll have in the future. It also allows you to plan your giving and gives you the flexibility to change it at any time.

How your donation could help

Hope for the Coast & West - Foundation created a grant program for the organizations working on the ground in impacted areas to assist with their mid- and long-term relief and recovery needs. By working closely with these organizations to assess ongoing needs and effective funding strategies, the Foundation is providing a direct, continued line of support to the Californians who are still living with the impacts of devastating wildfires, offering support and help long after the cameras have stopped rolling.

How costly are the LA fires?

Analysts project based on preliminary estimates that the LA wildfires could be the costliest wildfire event in California, in terms of insured losses, possibly exceeding $20bn. An insured loss is the financial damage caused by an event that is covered by insurance.
